A present every day
Hello, hello, hello! No matter what that sometimes strange, sometimes lovely, sometimes stressful Christmas period brought your way I hope this finds you well.
We have a new year and I want to use today’s newsletter to remind you of something important, it’s something I’m going to try to practice this year. In the words of Agent Cooper: “Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don’t plan it, don’t wait for it, just let it happen.”
This. This is it.
Just before Christmas I had a major epiphany. Suddenly it all made sense. Our well-being is the most important work, it’s the starting point, it’s the core, it’s the source from where everything else flows. This year I would like to find a moment of joy and peace every day. It will be interesting to see what will unfold from that kind of practice.
The person behind the quote about giving yourself a present everyday is of course David Lynch – a writer and film-maker I admire. His creative process is closely connected to his meditation practice. Here he talks about where his ideas come from and how he works with them:
And here is Agent Cooper on the important of presents:
Both these videos give me joy. I hope I’m sending some of that your way. And that will be another wish for the new year, to use this space to spread some light and joy.
Take care wherever your are,
Lotta
