The Hanged Man
Apologies. There was no newsletter last week because I was ill, struck down by yet another nursery cold. I spent a couple of days in bed and in many ways it was a good thing.
I have been very busy being busy, busy thinking and planning and feeling slightly manic. This was an enforced pause, a few days to feel and be and find some perspective. I’ve re-remembered what’s important, what I value.
So today I will give you the Hanged Man from the tarot. A card that symbolises those pauses, those forced or unforced time-outs which can sometimes be profoundly valuable and meaningful.
“Like the Fool, which signified doing what you sensed was best, even if other people thought it foolish, the Hanged Man indicates being who you are, even if others think you have everything backwards. It symbolises the feeling of being deeply connected to life and can mean a peace that comes after some difficult trial ... None of us can know the full meaning of being alive until, like Odin, we hang ourselves on the World Tree, its roots deep beyond knowledge in the sea of experience, its branches lost among the endless stars.”
